Evaporator Coil

What is Evaporator Coil?

The evaporator coil is the indoor coil where refrigerant absorbs heat from your home's air — warm air passes over the cold coil, comes out cool, and the collected heat rides the refrigerant outside. It's also where humidity condenses out of the air, which is why it has a drain.

Why it matters in Arizona

When an Arizona AC “freezes up” in July, this is the coil wearing the ice: a clogged filter or refrigerant leak drops its temperature below freezing, and the little moisture in desert air builds into an ice block that chokes airflow entirely.
